Served as a pilot with the SA Air Force from 1968 to 1995. (Now on the Active Reserve)

During that time I flew Harvard, Dakota, Albatross, Shackleton  and Beech 200 aircraft as well as Piper Aztec and Beech Queen Air aircraft during the Border War.

Since retiring from the Air Force I have obtained my Commercial Pilots licence, and I am still privileged to fly Harvards, Yak 52's and a Boeing Stearman from time to time by kind permission of Stu Davidson.

In conjunction with Stu Davidson and the late Godfrey Brown I was instrumental in 1992 in initiating the yearly air festivals and air shows that have supported MTR Smit Childrens Home from Plettenberg Bay to Port Alfred since that time.

I was privileged to be the Air Show Director of the PE Air Show in 2006 which won the “Best Air Show of the Year” award, and trust that this Air Show, our second combined SAAF/ Civilian Air Show will be just as good if not better.

I'm a qualified SAAF pilot, received my wings in 1980. and an A1 Category flying instructor.  I have approximately 4000 flying hours and 1800 hrs instruction.  I am a qualified SAAF Safety Officer and have also completed the United Sates Air Force Safety Course.  I have also completed the California Safety Institute Safety Course as well as the aircraft accident investigation course, including helicopters and jet aircraft.  I have spent 3 years as the Senior Staff Officer Aviation Safety at the Air Force's Directorate of aviation Safety and for the last 3.5 years I am the SA Air Force Flight Support Manager, responsible for the planning of all the Air Force's international flights as well as all the flights for the President, Deputy President, Mr. Mandela and other senior Ministers.
